Class Skills #

Riding: EX

Caenis’s mount is the legendary sea serpent, a water dragon variant of the dragonkin family. The fact that this skill’s rank is far higher than usual is what enables Caenis to control a dragonkin, variant or not.

Personal Skills #

Beach Crisis (Poseidon): EX

This skill may seem similar to skills like Beach Flower and the original Beach Crisis, but is actually an entirely different beast. Anyone unfortunate enough to fall prey to Caenis’s outwardly feminine charms will swiftly experience the brunt of the sea god’s curse. Case in point, Fergus was heard saying, “Why is this skill affecting me? It’s not as though they’re exposing that much more skin than usual” just as he was cursed.

Sea King Style: B

A series of original combat techniques developed in collaboration with Yagyu Tajima-no-kami, which are optimized for use in and around water. According to Caenis, this style is “just for a bit of fun.”, they said. These techniques were neither painstakingly devised, nor are they meant to be passed on to later generations. There is no more than a passing fancy, something of a “why not?” summer dream both parties share.

Summertime Combat: B+

A skill which embodies the mindset of Chaldea’s temporary summer safety officer. Enhances combat prowess, with an additional bonus granted during near-water battles.

Sea Serpent, Storm Blue: Take to the Seas, My Great Marine Fangs

RankB+
TypeAnti-Unit Noble Phantasm
Range1~50
Maximum Number of Targets1 person

Sea Serpent, Storm Blue.
Caenis rides their sea serpent mount across the ocean’s surface and hurls a spear wreathed in sea-serpent shaped magical energy at their target, thoroughly obliterating it. Apparently, it even enhances Caenis’s Attack when its True Name is released near water.

The spear used is the same one used in their Lancer Noble Phantasm, though it has been changed to fit this one. You can glimpse a fraction of its scales during Caenis’s Third Ascension.

Personality

Caenis’s Spirit Origin has changed now that they’re wearing a swimsuit. Their personality, however, has not. Well, it might be fair to say that they are a little easier to get along with now, thanks to Goredolf hiring them to serve as the summer safety officer.

For one thing, they don’t pick fights nearly as often as they did before. (That’s not really saying much, though.)

For child-type Servants or the protagonist, they say, “Don’t go too far on your own,” and “Are you okay?” showing a decent amount of care. However, towards romance-oriented Servants, they lightly worry with a hint of sarcasm, saying, “Are you underestimating the sea?” but it doesn’t quite come across.

What they hate the most is still the sea.

Motivation · Attitude towards Master

“Looks like I’m gonna be Chaldea’s interim safety officer this summer.”

This is Caenis’s foremost concern in this Spirit Origin, due to Goredolf personally entreating them to fill the position. As a result, they’re a little more protective of both Master and the other accompanying Heroic Spirits than they would usually be…though it’s hard to tell at a glance.

Dialogue Examples

“Leave the camp to me, I’ll take care of it. Just go and have fun.”
“Don’t stay out too late. Come back before the sun sets. Got it? GOT IT???”

“Dinner’s ready!”
“Maybe I’ll try catching some waves too!”
“Hey hey, if there’s gonna be trouble with the enemy, count me in too. Even though I’m the interim safety officer, I can’t just stand by knowing there’s trouble brewing. Right, Gordy!”

By changing into a swimsuit, Caenis converted their Spirit Origin to the Rider class, and was then hired as an interim safety officer by Goredolf in the 2021 summer event. While fulfilling their summer duties at Chaldea, they still intend to enjoy themself in their own way during their free time.

Given the choice, Lancer Caenis wouldn’t even approach the beach on their own, but in this Spirit Origin you might spot them heading out with a quick “be right back,” surfboard in hand.

Comment from Illustrator #

“I had a clear image in mind for the Second Ascension, but I struggled with the designs for the First and Third Ascensions. It felt like I added elements and then gradually removed them. Especially for the Third Ascension, I had a lot of doubts! I hope I can show you the design ideas that didn’t make the cut someday.” (Azusa)
